It all started happening at high noon. The Northern Colorado Fife and Drum Corps assembled outside the door to rehearse the songs for the day while the hustle and bustle of setting up display tables and the tables for food was underway inside. Tables were set up for the Second Amendment Sisters, Committee for Conservative Christian Political Leadership, Students for Academic Freedom, College Republicans, The American Party, Greeley Committee for the Defense of the Bill of Rights, The Northern Colorado Fife and Drum Corps, The Ionic Scanner, The Cub Scouts popcorn sales and our own Mr. Craig Weeks. The welcome table was womaned by the lovely and talented Joann Vondorhen. There were contact lists and door prize tickets and other information available. Part of the decor were many quotes about freedom by our Founding Fathers and other people. People mulled around the tables seeking information from the various groups until 1:15 p.m. when the Northern Colorado Fife and Drum Corps marched to the front of the hall and played a couple of songs for the opening ceremony. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited followed by the invocation. This year's invocation was George Washington's Thanksgiving Address read by Rob Lee.
Paul Martin and Nick Fahey from the Saturday 8:00 a.m. Revolution Radio show on KHNC 1360 AM took over. First they read the Bill of Rights and followed it with a history of the man most responsible for our Bill of Rights, George Mason.
Tom Buchanan went off on a tirade about several different subjects including taxes, the McCain Feingold campaign to stop free speech Bill, handicapped parking, government imitating the Mafia and his experience running for Loveland City Council. He urged everyone to get involved instead of waiting for our rights to be taken away due to inaction. Next on the agenda was Patrick Munson of The American Party of Colorado. The party was started by Robert Teesdale in Louisville. Craig Weeks then gave a talk about the money lenders and their influence on our national heritage.
Next up was Robert Lee of the College Republicans.
State Representative of District 49, Kevin Lundberg gave a talk about judicial tyranny and the defense of marriage act. We were treated to an encore presentation of A Visitor from the Past written by Thelen Paulk and performed wonderfully by Kirk Anamier. He requests that everyone close their eyes and imagine the scene as a Founding Father returns from the past to visit modern America. It is a chilling story, but many in the audience were peeking.
Next up was State Representative from District 51, Jim Welker. Jim had just returned from a conference in Arizona and was between the airport and home and agreed to stop by. His talk centered around an article by Dennis Prager entitled 'The second American civil war: what it's about '. The Northern Colorado Fife and Drum Corps once again marched to the front to entertain us with a few songs. Before they played, however, they had a surprise for the host. Craig Weeks presented Tom Buchanan with the Northern Colorado Fife and Drum Corps first annual Patriot Citizen of the Year Award. It took Tom by surprise and left him somewhat speechless and a little swelling in his eyes. They went on to play a few Christmas favorites.
Following the musical interlude Dick Rehg told us about the Committee for Conservative Christian Political LeadershipCommittee for Conservative Christian Political Leadership. This is a program that is designed to get Christians out to the polls and vote. They have materials to give out to display in churches about the Christian history of our nation. The program has been growing at a phenomenal rate.
Erin Bergstrom gave a talk about the group Students for Academic Freedom. Erin became involved when she personally experienced the liberal bias while attending college. Being older than most of the right out of high school, afraid to speak up students, in her class, she spoke up about the slanted education. She cited many examples of the bias of college professors.
Next up was Sue Rehg, Colorado Coordinator for Second Amendment Sisters. Sue spoke about the challenges of running an organization with too few volunteers and how SAS was reorganizing at both national and state levels. For more information about Second Amendment Sisters go here Kevin Wright finished the scheduled lineup with his Political Life Group. Craig Weeks and Tom Buchanan along with Zig and his Mom had a wonderful time dishing out door prizes. There were fancy Christmas ornaments, posters, books and many other items, but the prize for the best door prize was the UN toilet paper. We did honor Paul Martin by loudly chanting 'Just Say No To Government' We finished up the scheduled events a little early so there was time to visit the tables afterward. All in all it looked like a good time was had by everyone. If you were there and have any additions, corrections or photos, please contact Tom Email Tom or call 970-667-6269. |
