Faith Based Organizations
Faith Rev. Jesse Jackson Jackson said that a politician is used to appealing for votes from the pulpit, but "once you accept that federal money, he comes back the next Sunday, not looking for your votes, but looking for your books." Invoking the Gospel of Matthew, Jackson warned, "Churches, beware of wolves in sheep's clothing." Instead of the government relying on subsidizing ‘Faith Based Organizations’ we need to be promoting a ‘Faith Based Government’. I would suggest that the government have some true faith or at least take it to the next level. The term faith in this scenario is a misnomer. There is no faith when the government remains in control of a situation. In this case it is the tax payers hard earned money. If it were to be true that churches, call them ‘Faith Based Organizations’ if you like, can be an major part of solving the social problems of the nation then the federal government should step out of the way and let churches do their thing. The government was not set up to be a charitable institution and should cease that role. We need to turn the government back to its original intent so that we can once again enjoy true freedom. If we were to adopt a plan that would require the loss of one’s vote for the receiving government assistance we could effectively stop the practice of buying someone’s vote for a government handout. I personally have not known anyone that has starved to death. I have, myself been out of work with a family of three children to raise. It was not a prosperous time, but I did become very creative in making money to put food on the table and provide shelter. It was a lesson that I do not wish to repeat, but we all did survive. I have faith that churches and other charitable organizations would indeed come to the rescue and help those in need. America is blessed with an abundance of people that are willing to help their neighbors in time of need. Over the years we have relinquished that trait to a government that is cold, harsh, not compassionate and not very incompetent. So if we are to be a true nation of faith, let’s get the government out of the way, reduce taxes to a bare minimum that would force it to only maintain the responsibilities it was created to perform and let the good people of this great nation rise to the occasion.
